Chilean Grape Fritters Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup imported winter seedless green or red grapes
1/3 stick of butter (sweet or regular)
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 eggs
Salad oil
Powdered sugar

Methods:

Rinse grapes and dry thoroughly. Melt butter in saucepan. Pour in milk, sugar and lemon juice; bring to a boil. Add flour and stir with a wooden spoon to form a ball. Cook, stirring for one minute. Remove dough ball to a bowl and refrigerate for five minutes. With a wooden spoon, beat 1 egg at a time into dough ball until all are incorporated (dough will break into irregular pieces at first, then become smooth). Cover dough with plastic wrap and chill until ready to use. Dough must be cold to use. In a deep-sided pan or deep fryer, pour salad oil to the depth of at least two inches; heat at 350ยบ. Using a tablespoon, drop grapes into dough and roll to cover completely. Drop dough-covered grapes into hot oil, a few at a time. Grape rounds will float as they expand. Using a slotted spoon, small sifting spoon or wire basket, turn puffs to brown all sides. Puffs will brown in about five minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. When dry and cooled, sprinkle puffs with powdered sugar and serve.
